Actually just trains. Had a very transport orientated afternoon and evening yesterday. Councillor Ray McAdam and I attended the opening of the new Luas line at Docklands at lunch time. It was opened by the Lord Mayor Emer Costello and Minister Noel Dempsey. I jumped onto the carriage for the first ride but then realised that I had to be back for a vote on the Order of Business. Jumped off again.
Last night I attended a meeting with concerned residents in East Wall over the impact of the Dublin Underground Dart. We were trying to flesh out key issues for a series of meetings with Iarnrod Eireann in the New Year. We made good progress but plan to meet again before Christmas.
In between this I spoke on the Order of Business. Got sick of FF’ers praising the Taoiseach for his leadership on public service reform. Pointed out that the dogs in the street knew that Lenihan had vetoed the plan against Cowen’s wishes. Then EU Affairs Committee, then votes in the Seanad.
