Have spent the morning working on an amendment to the Finance Bill. This is in the whole area of ‘spin off’ companies and technologies. Basically, this is where a company develops a technology that is of commercial value but not part of the strategic focus of the company. It could also be where research generates additional ideas that are capable of sustaining wealth and jobs.
Some experts in this area are helping me understand this subject more and I hope to place some amendments to the Finance Bill in this area on Wednesday. This is to make it easier for this spin off activity to claim R&D tax relief.
After this, I have two canvasses in the constituency. A full day!
