Fine Gael Dublin Central Deputy, Paschal Donohoe TD, has welcomed the announcement by the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation of 60 new jobs for Dublin, as part of a wider announcement of a total of 122 jobs to be created nationally.
“Our economy is in a transitional phase, where we are moving from the old, failed economy based on construction, banking and debt to a new one that is focused on enterprise and innovation. The announcement of these jobs today, which will see 60 new jobs for Dublin is proof that the Government’s strategy is working and that we are building a more sustainable future.
“The three companies that are to establish or grow operations here span a broad range of industry from the high-tech sector to event management. ZenDesk, which is a leading provider of web-based customer support software, is to establish its Finance and Development Centre in Dublin, with the creation of 30 jobs over the next 2 years. Consero, a market leader in creating industry-specific events for senior-level executives, will establish its European Headquarters here, with the creation of 20 jobs over a 3 year period and DITA Inc, a global leader in optical designs, will expand its EMEA Headquarters and distribution centre, tripling its workforce here with the creation of 10 new positions.
“Companies are increasingly proving that Ireland is a place where they can start-up and expand rapidly. We have a well educated workforce and the measures contained in the Action Plan for Jobs are working to ensure that a competitive and supportive environment in which jobs can be created is in place.
“These companies are in a rapid growth stage and are picking Ireland to be part of their growth and expansion story. When companies choose Ireland as a base for their international headquarters, it is a ringing endorsement of the Government’s hard work.
“We recognise that there are still far too many people on the Live Register but recent figures outline that we have stemmed the flow of unemployment. For the first time in four years private sector employment has started to grow as large numbers of new jobs are created in the exporting sectors, in high-tech industry and in IDA-supported companies. Getting people back to work and restoring our economic sovereignty is the primary focus of Government. These jobs will mean a new start for 60 people and renewed hope for the future.”
