3Ireland Mast – Planning Application lodged

1st October, 2015

3Ireland recently lodged an application with Dublin City Council to permanently retain the Telecommunications Mast in the Dublin Industrial Estate, immediately behind homes in Claremont Court. I attended a public meeting organised by local residents last in the Clareville centre where I outlined my concerns and how best residents can ensure their views are considered.

The main aspects of the application include:

KEY POINTS OF PLANNING APPLICATION:

  • Retain permission for the 45 metre high telecommunications mast.
  • The mast would carry antennas & link dishes together with associated equipment cabinets & containers along with security fencing.

PLANNING REFERENCE NUMBER:

The Planning Reference number for this application is 3564/15.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS / OBSERVATIONS:

This planning application was lodged on September 8th 2015. Details of the full application are available online at www.dublincity.ie. Should you wish to submit an objection, please submit your objection in writing to the Planning Department, Civic Offices, Wood Quay, Dublin 2, inclusive of the €20 fee before October 12th 2015.

I organised a Planning Information meeting for local residents with officials in the Planning Department in order for them to discuss the process involved and the key concerns about the application. Following the public meeting earlier this year organised by the Residents’ Committee, I have been liaising with local residents and Dublin City Council in order to establish whether Three Ireland have looked at the potential for alternative sites where this mast could be located. The Assistant Chief Executive with responsibility for Planning has advised that no pre-planning meetings have been held between the City Council and Three Ireland with regards the possibility of alternative sites being examined for the relocation of this mast.

In order to assist local residents in responding to the application for the retention of the mast by 3Ireland, I will be:

  • Formally lodging a submission to Dublin City Council on the application.
  • Willing to assist in any resident or residents in developing or drafting their own submissions to the Planning Department of the City Council.
