Statement following commencement of negotiations on a successor to the Lansdowne Road Agreement

This morning (Monday) the Public Service Committee of ICTU, together with associations representing members of An Garda Síochána and the Defence Forces, met with public service management officials representing the Government to commence negotiations on a successor to the Lansdowne Road Agreement under the auspices of the Workplace Relations Commission

The plenary session began with opening remarks by the parties. Presentations followed by John McCarthy, Chief Economist at the Department of Finance, on the economic outlook and by Annette Connolly, of the Central Expenditure Management section in DPER, on the fiscal context.

The talks proper having now commenced, the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform will not be issuing further statements until talks have concluded.
