Busy Day

5th January, 2011

Yesterday was my first day back in action. What a day it was. Was asked to go on Newstalk re Seanad abolition. On my way to do this I was asked to do Morning Ireland followed by The Last Word and Q102 in the evening. Also managed to fit two canvasses into the day.

Interesting theme of the day is that Seanad abolition has really grown legs. Labour now support our position. I greeted a Labour colleague with ‘Hello, fellow abolitionist’. Now looks as if FF (minus their Senators) support this stance too. The days of this institution are numbered. While sad about this it is clear to me that the days of privileged institutions are now gone. This referendum is therefore vital.

Other theme of the day was the launch of www.finegael.ie. Our new website designed to capture feedback and views from the public. This led to my introduction as ‘Paschal Mooney’ on Morning Ireland. A few more days like that would be good!
