Looking back at the weekend

6th April, 2009

After a restful day recovering from the Ard Fheis the dust has settled a bit. I hope some things have become a bit clearer to those looking to our party for hope at the moment.

Firstly, we have very clear proposals about what we want to do differently. From healthcare (universal systems), national finances ( more focus on public spending control) to job creation (green economy) we know what we want to do and how.

Secondly, there is complete and utter support for Enda in the party. You just had to look at the way our delegates responded to Enda on Saturday night. He got a brilliant response.

Finally, the sheer size of our party. There thousands of people at the Ard Fheis. So many young people and women were there. Qualities lacking in nearly every other political party.

On a personal level I loved it. I had the opportunity to address the Ard Fheis on Saturday night. My time slot was cut by nearly 2/3 as I stood up to speak. That’s fine though. This is the nature of these things. I loved it. Addressing my friends in the party and speaking about my home is a memory I will forever cherish.
