The Minister for Finance and Public Expenditure and Reform, Paschal Donohoe TD, is in Paris today (Wednesday) where he is scheduled to have a number of high level, official meetings.

The Minister will meet with senior officials in the OECD to discuss public sector reform and governance, as well as tax policy and the Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) process.

Following his meetings with the OECD, Minister Donohoe will meet with his French counterpart, Minister Bruno Le Maire, to discuss a wide range of issues including the strong bilateral economic relationship with France, the impact of Brexit and international tax issues.

Speaking about his visit, the Minister said: ‘My visit to Paris is an important opportunity to engage with the OECD regarding Ireland’s ongoing support of the Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) process and to discuss the ongoing reform underway in Ireland’s public sector’.

“I also look forward to engaging with my counterpart, Minister Le Maire, on a range of issues, particularly the ongoing work we are undertaking to prepare for Brexit, the future of our Economic and Monetary Union (EMU), as well as international tax issues.
“I will be emphasising that Ireland will continue to play its part in addressing aggressive tax planning, which is a global problem that requires a global solution.”
