The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Paschal Donohoe TD, has today (Monday) welcomed a new tourism initiative by private coach operator, JJ Kavanagh & Sons, the aim of which is to support rural tourism while promoting the company’s services.

The initiative will see renowned international writer and blogger, Timi Ogunyemi, presented with a ‘Golden Ticket’ where he’ll be granted free travel on all of JJ Kavanagh & Sons bus routes, covering nine counties throughout Ireland. They are Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Waterford, Kildare, Limerick, Kilkenny, Tipperary and Clare.

Timi, who is the founder of ‘Creative Collective, Picture This!’ recently picked up the prestigious award for ‘best group blog’ at the Irish blog awards. His experience in writing blogs is more than illustrating pictures. He shows you the hidden gems in the nooks and crannies of a city, town or village and brings you information on the numerous ways to enjoy a place

This initiative will allow Timi to travel with JJ Kavanagh & Sons, meet with the locals, who are the fabric of rural Ireland, and provide a real and authentic sense of place to visitors.

Timi will explore the less travelled tourist trails, sharing his unique insights with followers of the blog. These authentic local stories and visitor experiences will shine a bright light on ‘Ireland’s Rural Heartland’.

International and domestic tourists will be encouraged to travel beyond the big urban hubs and escape to these rural places to engage with the people, appreciate their talents and explore the sense of place.

Speaking about the launch, Paul Kavanagh MD, JJ Kavanagh & Sons remarked:

“Timi’s blog will provide a unique guide for international visitors and those living in places that deserve to have their stories told…. We are delighted to be associated with this unique initiative”.

Commenting on the launch of the travel guide, the Minister of Transport, Tourism and Sport, Paschal Donohoe TD, stated: ’This initiative by JJ Kavanagh demonstrates an innovative approach to growing business and raising awareness of what the company, and country, has to offer. But more than that, it provides an opportunity for these beautiful parts of our country to be further promoted through social media, which is now an essential way of reaching potential audiences. In my capacity as Minister for Transport, and Tourism, I commend Mr Kavanagh for his originality in encouraging people to further explore the south east, using public transport options to do so’.

Timi will begin his monthly travels from the city of Dublin where you can follow his adventures and share his pictures with friends, on the new JJ Kavanagh & Sons travel blog.  All the places that Timi visits, are routes serviced by JJ Kavanagh & Sons with easy access from the urban hubs and International Airports.
