I took the Order of Business for Fine Gael in the Seanad today. This means
that I go first in the day. Always enjoy doing this as it allows you to set
the tone for the day. Indeed David Norris has just welcomed my conversion
to socialism! He did say partial, mind.
In my contribution I welcomed the talks between Enda, Deputy Gilmore and
the Government today. It’s a day for honesty. The Government must come
clean on where thing stand. It’s not acceptable that this fall on the
shoulders of Michael Noonan while standing outside the Department of
Finance.
Consensus must go both ways.
