Bill Cullen, George Hook, Eamon Dunphy and Richard Aldous to be Guest Witnesses at Tomorrow’s Meeting of Oireachtas Sub-Committee on Ireland’s Future in EU Expert Communicators to be asked what they would do to sell message of EU to public.

Four of Ireland’s most familiar personalities from the world of business, broadcasting and academia will be the witnesses at tomorrow’s meeting of the Oireachtas Sub-Committee on Ireland’s Future in Europe. The meeting will take place at 11:30 am in Committee Room 4 in Leinster House.

Bill Cullen, George Hook, Eamon Dunphy and Prof Richard Aldous are not only distinguished figures in their respective fields but are each acknowledged as skilled communicators with a capacity to engage and entertain people regardless of the topic.

They will be drawing on these renowned communication skills to advise the committee on how the concept of Ireland’s involvement in the EU, a topic which is often perceived as complex and uninteresting, might be put across in a simple, uncomplicated and engaging way.

Chair of the Oireachtas Committee on Ireland’s Future in the EU, Senator Paschal Donohoe said;
“Throughout the course of our meetings, one of the constant themes has been the difficulty politicians and civic leaders have met in getting people interested in Europe. Tomorrow will be a great opportunity to ask these people, who are renowned communicators:
“If they were in the committee’s position, confronted with a disinterested or uninformed public, what would they do?”

Bill Cullen: Bill Cullen is Chairman and owner of Renault Ireland. He is a director of the Irish Youth Foundation and in 1998 was a recipient of the Lord Mayor’s Award for his work with the disadvantaged young people of Dublin. He can currently be seen on the Apprentice on TV3.

George Hook: George Hook is a well known journalist and broadcaster. He had a career as a rugby union coach and businessman, before becoming a rugby pundit RTÉ. He hosts the ‘Right Hook’ on the Irish national radio station Newstalk.

Eamon Dunphy: Eamon Dunphy is a broadcaster and former professional footballer. From 2004 to 2006 he presented the breakfast programme on Newstalk 106 radio.He now presents a weekly programme on RTE radio. He has also written for a number of Irish newspapers and is a soccer pundit with RTE.

Prof Richard Aldous: Richard Aldous is head of History & Archives at UCD. He has published many books, including the no.1 bestseller “Great Irish Speeches.” He writes a weekly column for the Sunday Tribune and appears regularly on radio and television.
