Songs from the North Lotts

24th October, 2009

Last night I attended a lovely event in the Sean O Casey Centre, East Wall. It was a concert of songs by Paul O’Brien on the heritage and history of East Wall. It was organised by the East Wall residents association and was opened by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Emer Costello.

The music was lovely and reminded me that we forget the past of any community at great risk to it’s present and future.

It was a nice end to a busy week. I’ve worked to nearly midnight every night this week. Local and Seanad matters absorbed a huge amount of time this week. Loved it all but worked hard. I’ve also really noticed that the seriousness of all my local work has really increased. Nearly every case  that I deal with is so troubling.

A sign of the times, I’m afraid.
