The Wonderful Glasnevin Cemetery

28th March, 2011

Spent the morning meeting the Chief Executive of the Dublin Cemeteries Committee. Why?

Because Glasnevin Cemetery is an amazing part of Dublin Central. Since the building of the amazing Heritage and Visitor Centre it has gone from strength to strength.

I am familiar with a lot of it due to my work with the Michael Collins/Arthur Griffith Committee. But to see the full range of what they do and to hear their exciting plans for the future was a great way to start the day.

The picture is from O’Connell’s Circle. This was the original grave for The Great Emancipator before he was moved to the tower. One of many treasuries in this wonderful place.
