Fine Gael Seanad Transport spokesperson and local Senator, Paschal Donohoe has described the crash between a public bus and a LUAS service as an ‘unthinkable’ collision that must be urgently investigated.
“This crash occurred in the heart of my constituency and our city on O’Connell Street. My main concern is for passengers injured in this unthinkable collision. Everyone hopes that no one has suffered a serious injury and our thoughts are with them and the emergency services dealing with this awful incident.
“It is imperative that this crash be urgently investigated and that the findings be published. The public must have complete confidence in the safety of both the LUAS and bus and this must be restored with a thorough investigation. Both forms of public transport are experiencing falling passenger numbers and any question marks over their safety must be urgently dealt with in a public investigation.”
