Fine Gael TD for Dublin Central and the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Paschal Donohoe TD, has today (Wednesday) welcomed the announcement of 150 new jobs for Dublin Central. The jobs which are being created by Calypso Technology Inc. at the Custom House Plaza in the IFSC are supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.
Minister Donohe said: ‘Every new job announcement is to be welcomed as it brings with it potential for those who are seeking employment as well as for those who are in search of new prospects and career development. News that Calypso Technology Inc. is to establish a Managed Services Centre in the IFSC further cements the strength of our financial district, which is continues to attract new business from near and far’.
“On the day that we learn that the unemployment rate now stands at 10.7% and that 144,645 people left the Live Register to take up jobs in the past twelve months, reports of jobs being created in the financial services technology sector, which has been targeted by Government through the Action Plan for Jobs, demonstrates that the plan is working.
“There are still too many people without work who, despite the progress we are making, are finding it difficult to make ends meet. This Government is committed to delivering an Ireland where people are incentivised to work, where work pays and where people’s standards of living are improved. There are now 80,000 more people back at work since the introduction of our jobs plan. Today’s announcement further bolsters those figures and brings us further along the road to recovery.”
