A little victory

15th October, 2009

Today, for me, focused on report stage of the Public Transport Bill 2009.  Report stage is the point at which final changes are made in one house before been sent to the other house of the Oireachtas (in this case thebill will now go to the Dail).

I focused in on a number of areas. One of these yielded a little victory.

The proposed bill contained no requirement for the passenger time table to be shown at all times for any new bus service.

This bill was meant to be all about increased accoutability of how services perform. The most powerful source of this is passenger feedback. They can only do this if they know when the service is due.

I pointed this out to the Minister. He agreed. A change was made. A victory achieved. Small but rewarding.
