An Bord Pleanala and Metro North

2nd March, 2009

Attended the first An Bord Pleanala session on Metro North today. A historic moment as this project is the largest of it’s kind in the history of the state. There is a slight air of unreality about this work. At a cost of €5 billion it is clear that this project will be either reviewed or changed at some point. How this impacts on the planning process will be of significant interest to me.

I attended today to indicate my intent to make an oral submission on the process. I have been working on this project for years with local residents and want to see this through to conclusion. My observations will focus on the national role of this project and local concerns in relation to the Metro. It can be a sucess both locally and nationally and I will focus on this in my submission.
