Commuter Group Meeting

23rd September, 2008

Dear Constituent,

I am writing to update you on matters that have been raised with me by your local community. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of help or any other matter.

Commuter Group Meeting

At our public meeting on the Ashtown train station and it’s services in April, Councillor Mary O’Shea and I committed ourselves to organising a commuter group. These groups have been in operation on other busy train lines in the Dublin region. Their objective is to provide a forum where detailed discussion can take place on the quality and future of train services.

We have organised a commuter group meeting to be held on Monday September 29th at 8pm in the Halfway House Pub. It will be a small detailed meeting which will review issues effecting commuters and will be attended by a representative from Irish Rail.

The meeting will conclude by 9.30pm at the latest. I would be grateful if you could let me know if you can attend.

Planning Application 3021 / 08

As your local Fine Gael Senator, I am working to represent and deal with local and national issues in the Seanad. Local Planning and development can however, have a big impact on our community. I recently submitted a letter of objection in relation to this planning application.

This application seeks permission for the development of 447 new apartments and in light of current issues with local roads and commuter services, I objected to this application. The Planning Department received further information and revised drawings on September 2nd. Therefore, if you already made a submission on the original application, you are entitled to submit a further observation to the Planning Department in respect of this further information. If you have concerns or observations in relation to this development please let me know and I will include this in my own submission.

Should you wish to submit an objection, please submit your objection in writing to the Executive Manager, Planning Department, Civic Offices, Wood Quay, Dublin 2, by 4.30pm on September 25th. No further fee is necessary, provided your submission is accompanied by a copy of the City Council’s acknowledgement to your previous submission.

Should there be any other matter which may arise in the future where either I or Councillor O’Shea can be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact either of us and we’ll do what we can to help.

Kindest Personal Regards

Paschal Donohoe

Fine Gael Senator – Dublin Central
