Croke Villas

23rd January, 2009

This evening I attended a meeting with residents from Croke Villas about the future of their flat complex. This is one of the failed PPP projects. These residents are living in such difficult circumstances. I can’t help but feel that their plight is a symbol of the problems our country faces. But these kind of allegories are of no comfort to people looking for help and hope.

At this meeting I committed to the following. Firstly, doing all possible to protect the future of this specific project. Secondly, ensuring ongoing maintenance of the complex while residents are living there. Finally working to ensure that residents looking to move have equal points status to those in other complexes.

I will follow up with the group on these next steps in the coming weeks.
