The Cabinet has approved the General Scheme of the legislation that will give legislative effect to the decision of the Government to formally wind-up the Docklands Authority. The legislation contains provision for the transfer of assets and liabilities to Dublin City Council and it also compels the City Council to establish a Consultative Forum to cover the former areas of the Docklands and not just the new SDZ area. That Forum will be constituted in a similar manner to the existing Council but will be a unit of Dublin City Council. Further information on the draft legislation is available at http://bit.ly/Uq1gxe. It is expected that the Bill will be approved by the Oireachtas by the end of this year.
