IRELAND’S FINANCIAL CRISIS – WE CAN GET THROUGH THIS

The last week has been deeply traumatic for the people of Ireland. The arrival of the IMF, the coming budget and increasing political uncertainty has deepened our worry about our country’s future. So, what is to happen?

Can we get through this crisis?
Yes. I know this because many other countries have suffered debt crises and IMF involvement. By making the right choices they not only survived but prospered.

Ireland was, is and shall remain a great country. We should never forget that. We are hard working, productive and well educated. The foundation is in place for our country to recover. Our exports continue to perform extremely well. Many of our IT industries lead the world with their innovation and creativity. Dublin is a city that people want to live and do business in. All of this will help secure our economic success.

Make the right decisions now and we can prosper again. The wrong decisions will end any hope of recovery. Our future is still in our hands.

We must begin again
Ireland is now at the start of a journey. That journey must involve getting banks lending, our companies growing, and people returning to work. Fine Gael will provide a new team at the helm, a new energy and a renewed commitment to public service that will take us out of this crisis.

How we can secure our future
We must solve the political crisis so we can tackle the economic crisis.

We need an absolute break with the failed politics and policies of the past. This can only be done by a new Government, led by Fine Gael, with a mandate for reform. We will not be beholden to the powerful vested interests that have brought our country to this point.

We are committed to:
– Growing our way out of this recession through a jobs stimulus plan.
– Reinventing Government to better serve your needs.
– Reforming our public service to meet the needs of the public and restore pride in frontline workers.

Yours sincerely

Paschal
