Making the case for a new Dart Station in Cabra

2nd July, 2021

You may not be aware but Irish Rail in conjunction with the National Transport Authority undertook an initial public consultation recently about developing plans to deliver a new Dart programme, through the electrification of the existing train line to Cork from Hazelhatch & Celbridge towards the city centre. Part of that initiative could see a new train station provided along the line in Cabra. More information can be accessed here – https://bit.ly/3iT7mpb.

Last week I met with the senior management team of the National Transport Authority to discuss this and other transport infrastructure projects essential for the future growth of Dublin. I can confirm to you that the National Transport Authority recognises the benefits of providing a Cabra as part of the Dart + SW project. A further consultation will take place later this year once additional works has been completed by Irish Rail and the National Transport Authority.

It is important to also note that the National Transport Authority will shortly publish an updated Transport Strategy for Dublin. The ensuing public consultation will provide for a further opportunity for those of us living in this part of Dublin 7 to advocate the need for a new Dart Station to be in Cabra as part of this new Dart programme. When that draft Transport Strategy is published, I will circulate the details to you and outline how it is you can take part in the process.
