Minister for Finance and Public Expenditure and Reform, Paschal Donohoe T.D., and the Minister of State with special responsibility for Public Procurement, Patrick O’Donovan T.D., today (Friday) congratulated the Office of Government Procurement (OGP) for taking home two awards at last night’s National Procurement Awards.

The OGP won:

  • Procurement Team of the Year – ICT Sourcing Team

The OGP ICT sourcing team have demonstrated drive and determination in establishing a significant number of complex Frameworks and strategic initiatives in a very complex procurement category. The programme of work is unprecedented and has enabled substantial savings in the last 12 months.

  • Best Procurement External Collaboration Project of the Year – Rapid Delivery Housing

Office of Government Procurement, Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government, LGMA and Greater Dublin Local Authorities.

In 2015, the Government decided a national procurement solution was required to address urgent housing needs. The OGP led a multi-disciplinary, cross function team to successfully deliver a National Framework for rapid build housing, comprising design and build contractors throughout the State.

Welcoming the news, Minister Donohoe said: ‘The Government has a goal of increasing the professionalisation of public procurement. Since it was established in 2013, the OGP has been at the forefront of public procurement best practice in Ireland and it is a significant achievement for the OGP to have industry recognition for delivery of high quality procurement solutions.’

Minister of State O’Donovan said: ‘I welcome the news that the OGP won two awards yesterday evening. An estimated €6billion of procurement addressable spend falls within the remit of the OGP and its sourcing partners. The professional sourcing teams in the OGP ensure that compliant procurement arrangements are available to the public sector and that Government business is accessible to SMEs.
