Dublin City Council in partnership with Kennedy Wilson is proceeding with the development of a new cultural quarter in Parnell Square. The flagship project in the development will be the construction of a new City Library on the site of the former Colaiste Mhuire building. In addition to this, the development will include facilities for various cultural uses like music, media, craft and design and many more. A number of consultation sessions have been undertaken to date to enable the public to have their say. Further public consultation will take place following the drawing up of the detailed designs for the revamped Cultural Quarter. In recent days, the City Council selected the Design Team will be responsible for bringing the project through to a formal planning application by next summer.
