Have had a lot of people contact the office over the vote tonight. The local Fine Gael team of myself, Mary O’Shea and Ray McAdam are supporting the change.
We are doing this because this change should have happened when all of the recent development in the area was originally agreed. It didn’t. Now, one new community cannot get out of their homes. The older communities in their area can’t get to their homes because of the lack of proper infrastructure.
We cannot allow this to continue. That is why we are voting ‘Yes’ to this decision. I know that this bridge, if it goes ahead, will cause a lot of difficulty. I’ll do all I can to address these issues at the planning stage. But, in principle, we support this change.
