This is a “group” week in the European Parliament. The political groups will devote most of the week to their plans for the 8-11 February plenary session, where the key event is the scheduled vote on the new European Commission. There are therefore only a very limited number official meetings of Parliamentary bodies scheduled in Brussels.

Commissioner-designate hearing Crystalline Georgieva, the new Bulgarian Commissioner-designate for humanitarian aid and crisis response, is scheduled to appear before the Development Committee for a three-hour hearing.

Justice and Home Affairs
The Civil Liberties Committee will vote on the EU’s agreement with the US on the sharing of bank transfer data (SWIFT).

Spanish Presidency
The Spanish Foreign Minister will attend meetings of the Foreign Affairs and Development Committees, to outline the Presidency’s priorities in these areas.
